This couldn’t have come at a better time – I’m talking to myself a LOT right now – with my mother having just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and needing to find her care…but she’s in the UK…and dealing with trying to find out the immigration ramifications if I bring her over while in the midst of the greencard process (which we are)….there is too much to think about, and it is taking over every moment. Teaching is hard right now! So, I am trying to be a calm voice of reason to myself. It isn’t easy!

Wow Bridget, that is a lot to handle all at once. I hope that it all works out. I know it can be very tricky with immigration when green card is being processed. I think that what I have found to be helpful in times of overwhelm and stress, is to remember to take a moment, sit in silence, and just breathe. I know it sounds simple but it has always worked to help me settle my nerves when I need it most.

I am so happy that this challenge has come during this time as well, and I hope you find it helpful with all you are going through. I struggle with negative self-talk myself so I will be taking this challenge as well and will try to get better along the way.

I know it is not easy to be a voice of reason to ourselves. Let me know if I can do anything to help at all.

Stay well, you can do this!

      😀

It is a lot – it’s become my ‘new normal’, and perhaps once I actually believe that, it will get easier! In the meantime, strategizing with a 5-hour time difference is enough of a headache!

So yes, lots and lots of positive self-talk. It might be one foot in front of the other at times, but I can do this.

I absolutely love the affirmations. They are greatly needed. I talk to myself each and everyday. Lately have been encouraging myself to keep going. Each day I pray that my day goes smoothly. Keeping my students engaged is a task that deems pre-adventure planning, there is no way around it, without experiencing some behavioral issues.

This was what I needed, right on time!😉

Hey @Joy I am so happy to hear that! I agree, keeping students engaged def takes some planning. I have been working through some behavior issues with students this year and have been trying to find ways to personalize things for them and give them the chance to give me feedback on things. So far, so good!

I am so happy though that you are enjoying the Monday Minutes. A New one comes out tomorrow!
